Leonid Lerman was born in Odessa, USSR in 1953. He studied drawing and sculpture at the Odessa school of Art and received his BFA from Mukhina college of Art and Design in Leningrad. Before moving to New York in 1980, he was commissioned to create numerous public sculptures for parks and gardens in Odessa, the Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. Leonid has extensive teaching experience at the Art Students League, The New York Academy, F.I.T, the Sculpture Center and other schools. He has been represented by David Mckee Gallery in New York since 1993. He currently lives and works in New York.
